We have compiled a list of questions to help clarify any queries you may have about staying at Cloudlands. Should you have any further questions, please contact us on 01803 606550 and we will do our best to help.

How far from the sea front are you?

A

A distance of approximately 220 metres. It is less than a 5 minute walk. Bedrooms 7 and 8 are sea facing rooms with views across the bay.

How far from Torquay Railway Station are you?

A

A distance of approximately 200 metres. It is less than a 5 minute walk. With regular train services to Paignton*, Newton Abbot, Dawlish, Exeter, and further afield. Why not relax and take in glorious Devon from the train.
*Change at Paignton for the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway to Kingswear.

How far from the centre of Torquay are you?

A

A distance of approximately 1 mile. It is about a 20 minute leisurely stroll along the promenade taking in views across the bay to Paignton and Brixham. We are close enough to the centre and yet far enough away to be situated in a quiet location.

What time is check-in and check-out?

A

Bookings cover from 2.00pm on day of arrival to 10.00am on day of departure. Early arrivals and late departures may leave luggage with reception. If your estimated time of arrival is after 8.00pm please call us to make arrangements. To be fair to other guests we cannot accept very late arrivals - the latest time being 10.00pm.

Do you take group bookings?

A

Not as a rule. Experience has shown it depends very much on your planned activities while you are here. We have to consider the expectations and needs of all our guests; the most obvious is the element of peace and quiet. We do not accept 'Hen', 'Stag', 'Young Farmers', or similar group reservations. Other group bookings must be approved at the time of booking and cannot be booked on-line. We consider more than four people to be a group.

Do you accommodate children?

A

We do not cater for children or any person under the age of 15 years. Our accommodation is principally for adults - perfect for a quiet and relaxing stay.

Can we squeeze an extra person in our room?

A

No. We are limited by health & safety and fire regulations as to the number of people we may accommodate at any one time. We cannot have more guests than our number of registered bed spaces allow.

Do you accept dogs and pets?

A

We regret that facilities for dogs and pets are not available. However, assistance dogs are welcome in Bedroom 4. The five registered charities that form Assistance Dogs (UK) are :-Canine Partners, Dogs for the Disabled, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, Support Dogs,
The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, and Dog A.I.D.

Do you serve evening meals?

A

We do not serve evening meals but we can personally recommend restaurants in Torquay and the surrounding area, where excellent food can be enjoyed to suit most tastes and budgets, and we would be happy to make the reservation for you.

Can you cater for vegetarians or vegans?

A

Yes, we can cater for most special dietary needs. Vegetarian options are always available at breakfast otherwise please let us know your requirements before arrival.

What time is breakfast served?

A

Breakfast is included in all room prices and is served each morning between 8:00am and 9:15am. We offer a delicious cooked English breakfast or lighter option to suit your taste.

Do I have to have breakfast?

A

No, but our reservations are made on a bed and breakfast basis. Regrettably if you choose not to have breakfast during your stay there is no rebate or price reduction.

Do you have a bar?

A

No, due to a decline in use by residents in recent years we have removed the bar facility.

Q

Do you have proper car parking?

A

Yes, we have a level car park to the rear and side of the property. Each room is entitled to one car parking space. Your car, or motorcycle, should be accessible at any time of the day or night. If you have a vehicle larger than a car it may not be possible to use the car park, or only on certain days, relative to the number of other guests' vehicles present. Parking on the road close by is unrestricted. There is a disabled parking space next to the front door.

Do all rooms have wireless internet access?

A

Free wireless internet access is available in all guest's bedrooms, subject to signal strength, which is generally good but cannot be guaranteed.

What hours may I stay in my room?

A

From the time you check in the room is yours for the duration of your stay. You have your own set of keys and you may come and go as you please. However, to maintain our standards of room service, we will require access to your room at some time during the morning to top up consumables and refresh towels as required.

I am not completely fit and able can you accommodate me?

A

Do you have facilities for walkers?

A

We have some limited facilities for storing wet boots and clothing.

Do you charge extra for using a credit/debit cards to pay the bill?

A

No, we do not pass on the bank charges for payments made by credit or debit card to our guests. However, we would expect only one transaction per room.

Q

Do you have a manager and staff?

A

No, we don't - Cloudlands is a husband & wife run business and we do everything ourselves! However, if you wish to speak to somebody there is always someone available to assist.
